If
you are looking forward to the new year and thinking of coming to Canada to
celebrate it, this blog post is for you.
For
many of us, the New Year is not only the first day of the calendar, but also
the first day to start realizing new plans and dreams. But before we do that,
we have to get rid of some of the difficulties and negative events we
experienced during the year and take care of the rest of our body and soul.
Before the New Year, we can give ourselves the best gift by having a good rest.
But
where to go to celebrate the New Year? If you are interested in such questions,
we can list several reasons why you should choose Canada. First of all, let's
note that it is very difficult to imagine the new year without snow and green
fir and pine trees. Imagine that everything is white, you can hear the crunch
of your steps on the snow. How wonderful, isn't it? By coming to Canada, you
have a better chance of experiencing the New Year's view that we all dream of.
Canadians
welcome the new year with both common European traditions and their own.
Canada
uses the Gregorian calendar. This calendar was compiled in 1582 by order of
Pope Gregory XIII and was adopted in Europe and America in the following years.
Countries have switched to this calendar at different times. This calendar
replaced the Julian calendar introduced by the Roman emperor Julius Caesar in
45 BC. In the 20th century, the difference between the Gregorian calendar and
the Yuri calendar is 13 days.
The
last day of the Gregorian calendar is December 31, and the first day is January
1. Canadians also celebrate these two days as New Year's Eve and New Year's
Day. January 1st is officially a holiday in all provinces of Canada. If today
falls on a Saturday or Sunday, January 2 and 3 are officially considered
holidays. On this date, schools and state facilities are closed. Public
transport provides reduced service. Even shops are closed in some provinces.
Therefore, if you spend the New Year in Canada, it is useful to make your
supplies in advance.
Some
Canadians also celebrate the new year by fishing with their friends. Canadians
often clap and roar in the middle of the night to ward off negative energy and
the evils of the past. When New Year's Eve comes, the bravest people bathe in
icy water. It's called Swimming Like a Polar Bear. Different sports and
cultural events are organized throughout New Year's Day. Some people ski.
Trees in houses are decorated
with lights, garlands and pendants. In addition, you can see the socks hanging
on the fireplace and the handicrafts made by the children. At the same time, in
some neighborhoods, houses and trees are decorated with lights and a
competition is held. And a magnificent image emerges.
New
Year's Eve traditions and celebrations in Canada vary regionally, but social
gatherings and public celebrations are the same as in many countries. CBC's
English- and French-language television networks are known for airing sketch
comedy specials on New Year's Eve, satirizing the year's major events and news.
New
Year's Eve is also celebrated at Niagara Falls. Tens of thousands of people
gather to celebrate New Year's Eve in Queen Victoria Park, in front of Niagara
Falls. Festivals are free. At 9 PM and midnight the sky is colored with
fireworks. World-famous musicians attend the live concert.
These
are all great reasons to come to Canada on New Year's Eve. The best thing is to
come and see for yourself.
